It’s been a big week across the business. We’ve had some great wins, a few reminders of what makes ethical recruitment so important, and some positive signs in the Melbourne job market. So, I thought I’d share what’s been going on behind the scenes and what I’m noticing across the industry right now
Kicking Things Off Strong: Francesca’s First Week
First up, a big shoutout to Francesca, our Emerging Recruitment Consultant. She’s been with us for less than a week and has already brought in eight new jobs. That’s huge.
Coming from a background in luxury jewellery sales and wholesale, she’s taken to recruitment like a duck to water. The way she communicates, the energy she brings, is extremely infectious. She just gets people, and that’s half the battle in this industry. I’ve got no doubt she’s going to do really well with us.
Francesca will be working across Real Estate, Property Development, Insurance, and Finance Brokerage, helping you build long-term careers and supporting businesses that value quality over quick fixes.
The Market’s Turning, Especially in Melbourne
Lately, I’ve been having a lot of conversations with our clients in Melbourne, and the consensus is that things are picking up.
We’re seeing strong demand for staff across manufacturing, construction, logistics, and property, and it feels like we’re entering what I’d call an “up-and-up” cycle again. There’s more confidence out there, more job flow, and more businesses looking for reliable people.
I’ve asked Claire to double down on our marketing because we’re getting a big wave of new recruitment demand, particularly in Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane. It’s good to see after the slower patches earlier in the year.
Let’s Talk About Ethics in Recruitment
Now, on a more serious note. I’ve been speaking to a lot of candidates lately who’ve had pretty poor experiences with other agencies.
And look, I’ve been around long enough to know there are always two sides to a story, but there’s a recurring theme that keeps coming up, and it’s not a great one.
Too many recruiters are still trying to get candidates at the lowest possible rate or advertising jobs that simply don’t exist. You know the type, they list roles at inflated pay rates to get people to apply, and then magically, that job’s “already filled,” but they’ve got “others” at much lower pay.

It’s frustrating to hear, but it’s also why I keep saying “not all recruiters are the same.”
At TRS Resourcing, what we advertise is what we deliver, and we stand by what we supply.
Our job ads ARE real, our clients ARE legitimate, and our base pay rates ARE accurate.
We don’t play games with people’s livelihoods, no way, and I make sure every recruiter who joins TRS understands that from day one.
We’re here to create a win! Win! Win!
A win for the client.
A win for the candidate.
A win for the recruiter who gets it right.
Real Jobs, Real People, Real Results
That’s how you build long term trust, not short-term numbers.
Recruitment Shouldn’t Be a Race to the Bottom
So, here’s a recent example:
I had a great cabinet maker candidate presented to one of our clients. Another recruiter had already put him forward before me (no drama, it happens.) But what we found out later was that they tried to match our base pay rate without actually adjusting their client charge rate.
That’s not sustainable. Seriously, it devalues everyone involved: the client, the candidate, and the industry as a whole.
At the end of the day, guys, you get what you pay for. Cheap recruitment might look good on paper, but it’ll cost you more when you’re replacing staff six months later.
Nutshell: Pay Rates Are Rising and It’s Not a Bad Thing
We’re starting to see base pay rates increase across the board, particularly for skilled blue-collar trades.
I’ve already started conversations with some of our long-term clients about reviewing their rates earlier in the year, rather than waiting until June.
We want to keep things market competitive, but we also understand that our clients don’t have endless budgets. It’s about a balance and paying fairly for good people, keeping those projects sustainable, being practical, honest, and fair.
We’re growing every week here at TRS.
- Our logistics desk is firing, thanks to Laura and her team.
- Our technical blue-collar and property divisions are busy.
- And we’ve got new permanent roles coming through daily, no, not “database fillers,” but genuine, active roles from verified clients.
In all honesty, this isn’t a doom and gloom update, is it?! Far from it.
I’m genuinely optimistic about where the market’s heading. We’re building a stronger team, seeing positive change in our clients’ confidence, and attracting candidates who are shopping for an agency that treats them right.
So guys, if you’re looking for work in Melbourne or Sydney, get in touch with us.
The same goes if you’re a business trying to find reliable, qualified staff. Please get in contact, we’d be more than happy to have a chat and answer any questions. We’ve got the people, the processes in place, and a great team.
Until next week!
