The plant will produce adhesives, sealants, concrete admixtures, waterproofing systems and protective coatings for major Victorian infrastructure works, including the Suburban Rail Loop and the North East Link. Commissioning, recruitment and workforce training are already under way.<\/p>\n<p>When a multinational builds local capacity to service Victoria&#8217;s Big Build pipeline, the hiring task starts long before the doors open.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #0f75bc;\">Why this expansion signals something bigger<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Australia&#8217;s infrastructure pipeline is valued at more than $213 billion, and Victoria&#8217;s 2025\/26 budget added another $8.1 billion in new capital investment for infrastructure delivery. Big Build alone covers more than 180 transport projects running through to 2051. And it&#8217;s the kind of demand that pushes suppliers like Mapei to manufacture closer to the work.<\/p>\n<p>Local production reduces freight, cuts emissions, and shortens lead times when contractors are working to tight delivery windows. Adding a new manufacturing facility into that environment doesn&#8217;t ease the pressure, it concentrates it. The plant needs production operators, process technicians, quality and laboratory staff, warehouse and despatch teams, plant maintenance fitters, and a leadership layer that can run a complex chemical manufacturing operation to international standards.<\/p>\n<p>Every one of those roles competes with the rest of the Victorian market for the same shrinking pool of experienced people. Wage expectations move quickly, especially for skilled trades and operators with infrastructure-grade experience. Quiet poaching picks up, often through informal channels well before any job ad goes live.
