We\u2019ve had some great wins, a few reminders of what makes ethical recruitment so important, and some positive signs in the Melbourne job market. So, I thought I\u2019d share what\u2019s been going on behind the scenes and what I\u2019m noticing across the industry right now<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #0f75bc;\">Kicking Things Off Strong: Francesca\u2019s First Week<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>First up, a big shoutout to Francesca, our Emerging Recruitment Consultant. She\u2019s been with us for less than a week and has already brought in eight new jobs. That\u2019s huge.<\/p>\n<p>Coming from a background in luxury jewellery sales and wholesale, she\u2019s taken to recruitment like a duck to water. The way she communicates, the energy she brings, is extremely infectious. She just gets people, and that\u2019s half the battle in this industry. I\u2019ve got no doubt she\u2019s going to do really well with us.<\/p>\n<p>Francesca will be working across Real Estate, Property Development, Insurance, and Finance Brokerage, helping you build long-term careers and supporting businesses that value quality over quick fixes.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #0f75bc;\">The Market\u2019s Turning, Especially in Melbourne<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Lately, I\u2019ve been having a lot of conversations with our clients in Melbourne, and the consensus is that things are picking up.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019re seeing strong demand for staff across manufacturing, construction, logistics, and property, and it feels like we\u2019re entering what I\u2019d call an \u201cup-and-up\u201d cycle again. There\u2019s more confidence out there, more job flow, and more businesses looking for reliable people.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve asked Claire to double down on our marketing because we\u2019re getting a big wave of new recruitment demand, particularly in Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane. It\u2019s good to see after the slower patches earlier in the year.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #0f75bc;\">Let\u2019s Talk About Ethics in Recruitment<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Now, on a more serious note. I\u2019ve been speaking to a lot of candidates lately who\u2019ve had pretty poor experiences with other agencies.<\/p>\n<p>And look, I\u2019ve been around long enough to know there are always two sides to a story, but there\u2019s a recurring theme that keeps coming up, and it\u2019s not a great one.<\/p>\n<p>Too many recruiters are still trying to get candidates at the lowest possible rate or advertising jobs that simply don\u2019t exist. Win!<br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"color: #0f75bc;\">A win for the client.<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"color: #0f75bc;\">A win for the candidate.<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"color: #0f75bc;\">A win for the recruiter who gets it right.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #0f75bc;\">Real Jobs, Real People, Real Results<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>That\u2019s how you build long term trust, not short-term numbers.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #0f75bc;\">Recruitment Shouldn\u2019t Be a Race to the Bottom<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>So, here\u2019s a recent example:<\/p>\n<p>I had a great cabinet maker candidate presented to one of our clients. Another recruiter had already put him forward before me (no drama, it happens.) But what we found out later was that they tried to match our base pay rate without actually adjusting their client charge rate.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s not sustainable. Seriously, it devalues everyone involved: the client, the candidate, and the industry as a whole.<\/p>\n<p>At the end of the day, guys, you get what you pay for. Cheap recruitment might look good on paper, but it\u2019ll cost you more when you\u2019re replacing staff six months later.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #0f75bc;\"><strong>Nutshell: Pay Rates Are Rising and It\u2019s Not a Bad Thing<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>We\u2019re starting to see base pay rates increase across the board, particularly for skilled blue-collar trades.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve already started conversations with some of our long-term clients about reviewing their rates earlier in the year, rather than waiting until June.<\/p>\n<p>We want to keep things market competitive, but we also understand that our clients don\u2019t have endless budgets. It\u2019s about a balance and paying fairly for good people, keeping those projects sustainable, being practical, honest, and fair.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019re growing every week here at TRS.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #0f75bc;\">Our logistics desk is firing, thanks to Laura and her team.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #0f75bc;\">Our technical blue-collar and property divisions are busy.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #0f75bc;\">And we\u2019ve got new permanent roles coming through daily, no, not \u201cdatabase fillers,\u201d but genuine, active roles from verified clients.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In all honesty, this isn\u2019t a doom and gloom update, is it?! Far from it.<br \/>\nI\u2019m genuinely optimistic about where the market\u2019s heading.
